Friends,

Last Tuesday at approximately 11:15 a.m. WHI's firewall died. It was
apparently a cascading series of hardware failures.

A temporary firewall has been installed and configured, and just a few
minutes ago I confirmed that email and web services are up and running
and available from outside the Institute.

It will take about 24 hrs to get everything tweaked properly, but most
of that affects WHI staff.

When the new firewall appliance arrives, there may be another (hopefully
very, very short) interruption in service. I will let you know ahead of
time when we make the actual switch in hardware.

For the mailing lists, your postings were lost, not queued. Please resend.
