Using OpenOffice.org for OSIS import/export

I saw this on the TEI website today:

OpenOffice (http://www.openoffice.org/) is able to import and export
arbitrary XML in version 1.1 onwards, if provided with XSLT ...

Good point. And your questions are not naïve; the point of the mail list is to answer the questions of users like yourself. If you can't, the standard won't get used much beyond major Bible...

Maybe some of my confusion stems from the fact that I only have a 1.5
version of the User Guide, some parts of which are still to be fleshed out,
whereas the OSIS docs on the web site are mostly 1.1.1...

OK, now I've found this editor (pollo.sf.net) which got cleanly
installed on my Fedora Core 2 (actually you just unzip it into a
directory, that's it!).

As I understand, for now the only way to tag documents conformant with
OSIS is by hand (manually) or with a comercially available xml editor..... .

I have a text with footnotes at the bottom of every page (it is an
electronic form of a printed version, on disk).
I would like to tag the footnotes so that they refer to appropriate
point...

Usually \r is used for parallel passages in OSIS following is the form:
<title type="parallel">.. text if you want it ...<reference
